Oh, this book! During the holidays last year, I ran across a grandmother on YouTube who read this out loud. There are several books that have been read aloud like this only with an "adult" theme. Martin and Bex (YouTube) read several of these adult themed books that look like they belong in the children's section of the library. While hilarious, those are not books I'd read to my grandchildren.
When I ran across this book, I couldn't help buying it. I finally got to read it to my four-year-old grandson a few weekends ago and we had the best time. The repetitive "hee-haw" and other phrases were a riot.
While I knew he enjoyed it, I had no idea he'd remember it. I was visiting my son the other day, and my grandson came up to me and said "hee-haw." I didn't catch on at first, but when he said it again, I turned and said, "I was walking down the road and saw a donkey." His response was instant: "HEE-HAW!"
This is a book well worth the read. I loved it!
